Welcome to our Website!
Hi, I'm Paul Mayer, a long time software developer (since the Bicentennial year) and web designer since 1996 where I created pages for MSN.
I'd like to take a few moments to tell you a little about the Seventh District Coast Guard Auxiliary Website. This is not an ordinary group of HTML pages, our cgaux7.org website is a database driven website. All of the content that you see is actually pulled out of a Microsoft Access database on our web server and dynamically inserted into these page templates. This allows fast and easy editing and inserting of articles through a web based WYSIWYG editing system, allowing me to post articles as fast as I receive them.
Our class schedule system is also database driven where our members can add their own entries. We review and then make them as available for the public. It has a ZIP code lookup engine where visitors can enter their ZIP code and find classes near their home throughout the Seventh District.
Our class act on-line store is the first of its kind in the Auxiliary and again is all database driven allowing the store staff to log in on-line and make changes without needing a web designer to create pages for them. Our store has become a source for auxiliarists all over the country to get auxiliary items as simple as logging in, using a credit card and waiting for the UPS truck to drop off their purchase.
Thanks for stopping in to view our pages and I hope that you keep coming back for more information as we will keep it coming.
Paul Mayer, D7 Webmaster
