I just returned from our State Capitol in Tallahassee where I was asked to represent our District and the State of Florida in the passing of a resolution for Recreational Boating Safety for the State . The proclamation was signed and passed by the Governor and members of the Cabinet.

There were six of us who were present during the signing, Ken Haddad, Director of the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission, Captain Richard Moore with FWC, Bill Griswold representing the Safe Boating Council, Bill is also DSO-SL D7, Chris Edmonston with BOATUS, a reprehensive from the national staff of the US Power Squadron, and myself.
After the formal presentation we were introduced to the cabinet and shook hands with each member and the Governor.
Photos were taken and all was recorded for news on TV later that day. However, one thing really stood out for me, and that is each Cabinet Member and the Governor sincerely thanked all of us individually for our hard work and dedication to boating safety.
I felt honored and some what privileged to have been charged with this responsibility, however I was also humbled by the fact that there are so many people in our business in one form or another that work tirelessly to make sure that the boating public is safe.
