Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Fund
Update for the Seventh District
As Auxiliarists we are known for our willingness to give and to reach out and help others in the Coast Guard Family. Those who have been on the receiving end, often return the generosity when their circumstances allow. This is the case this year as evidenced by donations from members in Eighth Coastal. Members in that district were devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. They are giving back this year - with donations of over nine thousand dollars by mid July. The $9,131.00 donated represents gifts from 544 members. These donations are more than double that of the next closest district; ours. Members of the Seventh where 689 members have given just over $4,800.
Please don't slack off on your gifts to CGMA Fund, -- disasters happen and we can never have too much available for those stricken. Thank you for all you have given and will continue to give.

ISAR Winners!
I have just had a call from Karen Miller, DCP-11, giving the results of the ISAR competition at Cape May. Congratulations and many kudos to the Division 11 team representing District Seven. They took first place and will be going to Toronto. Canada's possession of the trophy may will be endangered.
Please give the wide distribution to our members.
Bravo Zulu to the team. They make us proud to be a member of the fantastic Seventh!!

COAST GUARD MUTUAL ASSISTANCE FUND
CAMPAIGN 2007
The Annual CGMA Fund Campaign started today, 1 April. Just as in the past, the entire month will be designated for the promotion. However, this is only the start of the campaign. We urge elected officers and members to keep this campaign in mind all year long.
Every Flotilla Commander should have received a packet of material and information by now. If any have not, please let me know and we’ll work to supply one.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of members of the Seventh District, we led the nation in donations, -- and we can do it again. The donations benefit not only the active Coast Guard and their families, but the Reserve and Auxiliary as well. Many of us know people who have been helped by the CGMA Fund.
Last year we were fortunate in that there were no disasters with the magnitude of the devastation seen in 2005, and for that all of us are extremely grateful. However, we need to look to the future and ensure that funds are available in case they are needed in 2007.
Only you can do that, -- you can make it happen.

COMO Charles S. Greanoff Inspiration Leadership Award

Good morning.
The announcement of the first recipient of this award was announced yesterday in an ALCOAST message and in a ALAUX message.
It gives me a great deal of pleasure to announce that our own Gregory Gamache, VCP 11, was one of two Honorable Mentions for this prestigious award. Greg was the FC of Flotilla 11-1 last year..
The award serves to annually recognize the most distinguished Auxiliary Flotilla Commander and parallels the existing inspirational leadership awards for Coast Guard officers, chief petty officers (E-7) and civilians.
Our congratulations go to Gregory for an outstanding performance in serving the Coast Guard Auxiliary, its members and District Seven so well. Bravo Zulu.
And thanks also to Karen Miller, DCP-11, for submitting the nomination.
Semper Paratus.
